806 miles is a rumination on an underlying longing to feel connected. It explores the different forms of distance between individuals which can occur physically, but also figuratively or emotionally. Meant to be circumambulated by spectators, the several different geometric shapes that constitute the sculpture create negative spaces that shift as perspective changes. Only when one is standing directly in front of or directly behind the sculpture do all the shapes align and the visual image is completed. 806 miles thus expresses the few and fleeting moments of true connection with another, in whatever forms they may take, amidst a majority of space, separation, and disconnection.
