Volatile State represents a chaotic and unbalanced space constructed by gestures uninhibited by intention and layers encompassing multiple mediums. In a true experimentation of how different modes and methods of mark-making operate, the piece establishes a playful yet serious energy. The neutral, almost grayscale palette establishes a simplicity that balances the complexity of the composition, creating a satisfying equilibrium. With this piece, I began to test the boundaries between where painting ends and drawing begins, or vice versa.
