Resonance is a continuation of the ideas explored in Congruence, yet is also a departure from Congruence’s complimentary color dominated palette with the result being an investigation into a fuller range of hues. Using the similar device of a black silhouette of hair, Resonance establishes a separation between the bright, bold colors of the face and neck and the muted, cool tones of the background. Both works explore how emotion and energy can be translated or represented visually through color. However Resonance specifically, as evidenced in its title, uses the juxtaposition of bold color to channel the sonic effects of resonance and reverberation, yet in a visual manner.
