Meditating on the dynamic of conversation and considering what makes participants human, I sculpted five heads from clay. When one shattered on accident, I was inspired to begin shattering but also extending and adding onto others. The inside of each head is painted with different designs that convey different mannerisms and different personalities. Some complex geometries, while others feature only a single color. The most complex is lined with wax encaustic melted together. The heads can be pushed together, spread apart, clustered in groups... LED lights wrap around them to show trains of thought, words, or ideas being shared. The lights symbolize the communication that ties these sculptures and these people together as a depiction of the human experience through conversation.
