Tracking, Traveling, Remembering is a reflection on a period of walking I began as a response to the COVID 19 pandemic. Confronted with long periods of time and a lack of stimulating activities or events, I began taking trips through the forest. I had never before experienced the sense of stillness or tranquility I felt by simply walking without a destination in mind or set amount of time guiding me. My wanderings soon turned into daily occurrences focused on recording and meditating on what was around me. Tracking, Traveling, Remembering focuses on recording these fleeting moments of silence and calmness. Using my memory, I mapped the routes I took on my walks by taking a small stick and impressing it into the surface of soft pieces of clay. The indentations resemble footprints and the small clay slabs represent pages in a diary or journal. The disks have several different arrangements, the primary one resembling a calendar of days characterized by the methodical process of walking.
